Gulf tensions have no impact on India; government says there is ample stock of gas and medicines, prices will remain stable

The tensions with the Gulf countries will not affect your kitchen or your pocket. The government has clarified that the country is fully stocked with gas cylinders and medicines. Their prices will not increase, and supplies will remain normal. Meanwhile, in a major rescue operation, 2,170 Indians stranded in Iran have been brought back safely.

The recent turmoil in West Asia has raised concerns around the world. Amid such global developments, the primary question that arises is whether this tension will impact our kitchens, our pockets, or our health.

The government has allayed these fears, clarifying in a detailed inter-ministerial briefing that there is no need to panic.

Despite severe disruptions to global supply chains, India has established a robust security network that will ensure the public is not directly impacted.

The Gulf crisis won't affect your pocket, with drug prices under control.

Whenever an international crisis occurs, the prices of essential commodities are the first to skyrocket. Similar concerns were raised about the availability of raw materials for medicines.

However, the relief is that the government has adopted a highly coordinated and robust strategy. This strategy has ensured that there are no disruptions in the supply of raw materials to pharmaceutical companies.

The direct benefit to the common man is that there has been no significant increase in the selling prices of medicines and drugs within the country.

Life-saving drugs are reaching you at the same normal prices as before this crisis.

There is no shortage of cooking gas, black marketing is under control.

Petroleum and gas are the largest imports from West Asia, so naturally, people were worried about a shortage of cooking gas (LPG). The ground reality is quite the opposite.

The supply of domestic gas cylinders in the country is completely smooth. To ensure gas reaches consumers on time and there is no illegal manipulation,

the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system has been strictly implemented. This technology has led to a remarkable 92% increase in certified delivery figures.

The easy availability of gas in the market can be gauged from the fact that while an average of 77,000 FTL (ftl) gas cylinders were sold daily in February 2026, this figure crossed 1.06 lakh yesterday.

Additionally, the use of pipeline gas (PNG) has also increased rapidly. Recently, more than 18,000 consumers surrendered their old LPG connections through the MYPNGD.in portal. Furthermore, a major relief news has come from the sea.

The Indian-flagged LPG cargo vessel "Green Asha" safely arrived at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) on April 5th, navigating the highly sensitive Strait of Hormuz. This ensures that the stoves in our homes will continue to burn without interruption.

2,170 Indian nationals brought to India

In addition to maintaining security arrangements within the country, the government is also fully prepared to ensure the safety of its citizens stranded abroad.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran, the capital of Iran, has successfully conducted a major evacuation operation. A total of 2,170 Indian citizens, including students and fishermen, were brought back to India via safe land routes in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Amid this regional geopolitical tension, India is steadily strengthening its diplomatic presence. The External Affairs Minister is embarking on a crucial visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on April 11th and 12th, 2026.

The primary objective of this visit is to thoroughly review bilateral relations between the two countries and elevate the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights.
