Don't worry if your ATM doesn't dispense cash and your account is deducted. A Nagpur customer has won a similar legal battle against Axis Bank. The consumer court reprimanded the bank for ts negligence and ordered it to not only return his 5,000 rupees but also pay him 10,000 rupees in damages. Learn more about the entire case.

We all experience this fear at some point when we insert our card into an ATM machine. The only question that comes to mind is, will the money get stuck? This is exactly what happened to a man in Nagpur.
The machine didn't dispense cash, but he did receive a message on his mobile phone about the money being deducted. Usually, in such situations, people become frustrated and give up after running around banks.
But this customer didn't give up. He took the legal route, and now, after an eight-year legal battle, the bank has not only returned his entire money but also doubled it as compensation.
8 years long wait for 5000
This entire case is from Nagpur, Maharashtra. In August 2018, the complainant attempted to withdraw ₹5,000 from an Axis Bank ATM for his own needs. The transaction was completed,
but not a single note came out of the cash dispenser. Instead, a message appeared on the customer's phone stating that ₹5,000 had been debited from his bank account.
This was a shock to any average person. The complainant immediately contacted the bank and lodged his complaint.
However, the bank management did not take the matter seriously. The customer also resorted to the Banking Ombudsman process, but he received no fair hearing or relief.
Bank's negligence exposed in Consumer Commission
After facing disappointment at the bank and the Ombudsman, the man approached the Nagpur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
A bench comprising Commission Chairman Satish Sapre and Member Milind Kedar conducted a thorough hearing of the case.
Surprisingly, despite the legal notice, no representative from Axis Bank appeared before the Commission to present their side.
Consequently, the Commission was forced to proceed with the case unilaterally. The Forum clearly observed that the bank was ignoring its own customer's repeated complaints.
